You certainly can’t beat the stunning scenery and fresh air of the lake and mountain regions of Italy and Austria. I enjoyed a spell living in Munich from where we would take off most weekends to the Austrian Tyrol for relaxing walks though the stunning scenery. Lech is such a pretty resort and really is a walker’s paradise, but I have ventured further and uncovered one of Italy’s best kept secrets. Situated west of Lake Maggiore, is the exquisite Lake Orta, considered to be the most romantic setting, with its beauty resting in its utter tranquility.
