The Quinta Bela Sao Tiago was built as a traditional manor house in 1849 and has been carefully renovated in 1998 to create a stylish hotel, located just five minutes' walk from the heart of the old town. Surrounded by five hectares of gardens with its own banana plantation and orchard, there are 62 air-conditioned bedrooms with balconies and enjoy views of the garden or the bay. The restaurant O Portico is in the old part of the house and the Por do Sol cocktail bar leads to the terrace overlooking the town and the ocean where breakfast can be taken in fine weather. There is a heated outdoor swimming pool and a fitness room, sauna, jacuzzi and Turkish bath.
