I've recently returned from a River Cruise with Ama Waterways on the AmaKristina. As a member of La Chaine des Rotisseurs, a prestigious international culinary society I was obviously excited about the different types of foods I was going to experience and I wasn't disappointed - quite the opposite actually!
Breakfast
For breakfast there is so much choice. You can enjoy a variety of cereals, yogurts and fruit, followed by made-to-order omelettes, freshly baked bread and pastries or traditional bacon and sausages. Some even pushed the boat out with waffles topped with whipped cream.
Lunch
Lunch offers numerous choices such as fresh salads, soups, sandwiches, meat and seafood dishes followed by indulgent desserts.
Dinner
Evenings are generally elegantly casual, with a range of mouth-watering entrées, including beef tenderloin and fillets of salmon.
I decided on the Chef's Recommendation, which was sea scallop, crayfish and mango salsa, french onion soup with cheese croutons followed by herb crusted medallion of lamb, broccolli, ratatouille and potato gratin, finished off with opera cake, orange sorbet, dark chocolate kalula ganache and orange chip.
Options
Throughout lunch and dinner you will be able to sample complimentary hand-selected wines, many locally produced, along with beer and soft drinks.
There's also a speciality restaurant called the Chef's Table, seating 28 guests. It offers a unique culinary experience at no extra charge. As part of the experience the kitchen is on display and forms part of the entertainment.
Ama Waterways cater for food allergies, and offer gluten-free and vegetarian options. On the bar in the lounge you'll find a Gluten-free Corner for snacks, and a detox water area.
The lemon and ginger was really refreshing and the gemstone water with rose-quartz, amethyst and mountain crystal was my favourite.
Summary
To sum up I would highly recommend cruising with Ama Waterways. The ship was luxury itself, the staff looked after everything and the food was truly exceptional.
