Amadeus Royal

A new addition to the choice of river cruise vessels from Saga, this top-quality ship offers impressive facilities and delicious cuisine. She offers spacious, comfortable public rooms with generous windows for you to enjoy the scenery.

The facilities on board include the Amadeus Club lounge, an indoor fitness area, a Sun Deck with deckchairs and the Lido Bar. You can enjoy buffet breakfasts and delicious four-course lunches and dinners with a choice of waiter-served main courses. In the afternoon, tea and biscuits are served and late-night snacks are also available.

All cabins are spacious and outside-facing, with a shower and wc, a television showing images from the on-board camera, air conditioning, a telephone, safe and hairdryer. Cabins have twin beds which can be pushed together as a double upon request.

Cabins on Mozart and Strauss Decks have full-length windows and French balconies, apart from cabins 204 and 206 which have round windows. Cabins on Haydn Deck have a smaller window. Wi-Fi (complimentary from 2018) is available throughout the ship.

Full Itinerary

Day 1 - UK to Budapest

Fly to Hungary’s capital, Budapest, where you embark your ship.

Day 2 - Budapest

An included excursion shows you the capital's highlights which include the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Buda Castle. This afternoon, depart for Bratislava.

Day 3 - Bratislava to Vienna

Spend the morning exploring the capital of Slovakia. Stroll through ancient cobbled streets to Bratislava Castle for a bird’s-eye view of the city and see the Gothic-style cathedral, where 11 Kings of Hungary were crowned. Alternatively perhaps join an optional guided walking tour of the city. Arrive in Vienna, this evening.

Day 4 - Vienna to Durnstein

An included tour reveals the highlights including the Ringstrasse and Opera House. Sail to Dürnstein this afternoon and moor overnight.

Day 5 - Durnstein to Melk

Cruise through the scenic Wachau Valley to Melk and perhaps visit the impressive Benedictine Abbey on an optional excursion.

Day 6 - Passau

This afternoon you arrive in elegant Passau with its cobbled streets and arcades. Enjoy an optional afternoon city walk.

Day 7 - Regensburg to Kelheim

Spend the morning in Regensburg discovering its 2,000-year history. An optional excursion also visits Weltenburg Abbey. Pause in Kelheim where excursion participants rejoin the ship.

Day 8 - Nuremberg

Spend the day in Nuremberg and join an included excursion to see the major sights.

Day 9 - Bamburg

The UNESCO World Heritage city of Bamberg has quaint streets full of delightful old buildings. Take in the medieval treasures on an optional tour, including the cathedral and quirky historic town hall.

Day 10 - Wurzburg

Spend the afternoon in the centre of Franconia's wine industry. An optional guided tour uncovers the impressive Residenz Palace.

Day 11 - Miltenberg

This ancient town has an attractive location on the banks of the Main. Explore Miltenberg's old town with its 13th-century castle, timber-framed houses and wine taverns this afternoon.

Day 12 - Rudesheim to Koblenz

An optional excursion visits Siegfried's Museum of Mechanical Music in Rüdesheim, or you could take the opportunity to enjoy a wine tasting at a local winery. Otherwise take a look around this picturesque town in the heart of the Rhineland's wine-producing region independently. Arrive in Koblenz late this afternoon.

Day 13 - Cologne

Spend the morning in Cologne and perhaps explore the oldest part of the city, including the cathedral.

Day 14 - Amsterdam

Admire Amsterdam's network of historic canals, see the house where Anne Frank and her family hid, and take in the bustling cafe culture of this colourful capital on an optional morning tour which includes a canal cruise. Enjoy a farewell dinner this evening.

Day 15 - Amsterdam to UK

Disembark your ship after breakfast for your return flight to the UK.
