I’ve cruised on Magellan and was very impressed. She is a quality ship with three sun decks, a contemporary feel, spacious cabins and a proper tiered theatre.

Ship Overview

Magellan

Cruise & Maritime Voyages’ Magellan carries 1,250 passengers and operates on an adult only basis. The ship has nine passenger decks serviced by eight lifts, and her expansive deck areas give a real feeling of space with a wide range of comfortable lounges and panoramic seating.

Dining options include the impressive Waldorf and Kensington Restaurants or the more informal Raffles Bistro. There are comfortable lounge areas throughout including the two-tier theatre style Magellan Show Lounge. Out on deck, there are two swimming pools and three whirlpools.

Restaurants

The attentive waiting staff will welcome you to the elegant Waldorf or Kensington Restaurants where you can opt for a full English breakfast, a leisurely five-course lunch and enjoy a delightful dinner every day of your cruise. As a casual alternative, the light and airy Raffles Bistro is open every day for buffet style breakfast, lunches and dinner. The Pool Deck lends itself particularly well to al fresco meals so a buffet breakfast or lunch from the Bistro can be served up with a complimentary ocean view!

Lounges

Why not settle down and enjoy wonderful panoramic ocean views from the comfortable lounge areas along the mall on the Magellan Deck, or relax in a secluded corner of the delightful Hamptons Lounge Bar. At the very heart of Magellan is the stylish Captain’s Club and after dinner enjoy the Show Lounge as the talented show team display their talents.

Other Facilities

The Jade Spa & Beauty Salon is well worth a visit while on ship. It offers hairdressing & beauty treatments, sauna and an extensive menu of massage treatments.

How about a few hands of cards in the Card Room? Or immerse yourself in a good book from the well-stocked Livingstone Library.

Out On Deck

There are two outdoor swimming pools plus three whirlpools together with expansive deck areas for that daily exercise, relaxation and viewing or late night stroll.

Magellan Deck Plan

Full Itinerary

Day 1 - Bristol

Today your journey begins as you sail out of Bristol, on board Cruise & Maritime Voyages' Magellan. Take the time to explore the ship and settle in as you sail towards the British Isles.

Day 2 - At Sea

Day 3 - Honfleur

Next port of call is picturesque Honfleur, which has been inspiration for many impressionist painters over the decades. This city has a rich artistic and historic heritage, as you wonder through the quaint streets and old houses, you'll be able to admire the beauty for yourself. Experience this heritage for yourself and visit Monet’s famous gardens at Giverny or even the Gothic Rouen. Both a sea and river port, Honfleur is the birthplace numerous navigators, sailors and captains.

Day 4 - At Sea

Day 5 - Invergordon

Situated on the shores of the deep Cromarty Firth and with a fine natural harbour, Invergordon is a key port with an important naval history stretching back through two World Wars. The small, yet modern town is a charming coastal gateway to the beautiful Scottish Highlands and the incredible scenery that forms a stunning backdrop to the romantic castles and historic battlefields featuring in optional excursions along with the ‘Capital of the Highlands’ Inverness. Other popular options include the Glenmorangie Distillery and a visit to haunting Loch Ness with its legendary monster.

Day 6 - Kirkwall

Today you'll arrive at the Royal Burgh of Kirkwall, capital of the Orkneys. This Viking town dates back to the 11th Century and, the awe-inspiring stone circles and ancient monuments at Stenness and Brodgar, are also impressive to see. Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Kirkwall dates back as far as 4,000 BC and is the perfect place to explore a unique history.

The Orkneys have become a popular place for the arts and crafts, and there are a number of renowned jewellery and glassmakers here, as well those who specialise in tapestry, ceramics and furniture. Most visitors will take time to wander through the town centre to browse the interesting and sometimes quirky craft shops to find that special souvenir of their visit to these most fascinating and remote islands.

Day 7 - Lerwick, Shetland Isles

Lerwick, Shetland's Capital, is a bustling, cosmopolitan seaport with services and amenities only usually found in much larger places on the British mainland.

The extensive leisure and entertainment facilities provide warm hospitality to visitors. The old waterfront is thronged with pleasure boats, visiting yachts, historic craft and working fishing boats. There's a variety of lively bars and clubs, ranging from popular "theme" bars to more traditional hostelries. Lerwick is Shetland's only town, with a population of about 7,500 - although about half of the islands' 22,000 people live within 10 miles of the burgh.

Day 8 - At Sea

Day 9 - Tobermory

Established in the late 18th century as a fishing port, Tobermory is one of the prettiest ports in Scotland. This picture-postcard village has a large natural harbour where colourful boats bob on the waves and is watched over by a rainbow of brightly, painted buildings backed by woodland-fringed hills. Tobermory is the capital of the Isle of Mull.

Mull is the second largest island of the Inner Hebrides and its diverse landscape ranges from high mountain and wild moorland, to wave-lashed sea cliffs and sandy beaches. Neighbouring Iona is the tiny island where St Columba first brought Christianity to Scotland in 563 AD.

Day 10 - Belfast

Samson and Goliath are much-loved landmarks soaring above Belfast’s skyline. The two great, yellow-painted, gantry cranes are a reminder of the shipbuilding industry that put Northern Ireland’s capital firmly on the map. Housed in an iconic, state-of-the-art, 6-storey building, Titanic Belfast relives the city’s golden era and traces the story of the ill-fated liner built in the shipyards of Harland & Wolff. At the heart of today’s cosmopolitan city is Belfast’s elegant City Hall, which stands in Donegal Square. The extraordinary Giant’s Causeway is a popular excursion from this city with omnipresent Irish charm.

Day 11 - Ringaskiddy, for Cork

Cork City, European Capital of Culture in 2005, hosts many festivals, ranging from jazz and folk to choral and film. The bustling city centre is home to fascinating shops and markets while traditional Irish music can be heard in many of the historic pubs and bars which populate the city centre.

Day 12 - Bristol

Return to Bristol where your cruise comes to an end.
