Full Itinerary

Day 1: Bristol Avonmouth

Today we set off on board Marco Polo, and head for the springtime gardens of the River Seine.

Take time to explore the ship, take advantage of the facilities or just relax with a drink, as you sail out of Avonmouth.

Day 2: At Sea

Days 3: Rouen & Cruising the River Seine

This morning we arrive in Rouen, home of the beautiful gardens of Claude Monet, and the place that inspired so many of his works.

Its Old Town is a delightful maze of narrow, cobblestone streets lined with fine half-timbered houses and wonderful gothic churches, including the magnificent Cathedrale Notre Dame and the Eglise St. Maclou. Rouen’s Place du Vieux-Marche is famous as the site where Joan of arc was burned at the stake in 1431.

Day 4: Honfleur

Next stop is picturesque Honfleur, which has been inspiration for many impressionist painters for years. This city has a rich artistic and historic heritage, as you wonder through the quaint streets and old half-timbered houses and cobblestone streets, you can admire the beauty for yourself.

Both a sea and river port, Honfleur is the birthplace numerous navigators, sailors and captains.

Day 5: Portsmouth Harbour

Stopping off in Portsmouth as we sail round the British Isles.

Day 6: At Sea

Day 7: Newhaven for Edinburgh

The Scottish delights continue as you reach Rosyth; it’s your gateway to the beautiful city of Edinburgh. While the likes of Edinburgh Castle and Holyrood Palace, at the end of the famous ‘Royal Mile’, are ripe for exploration, the chance to be part of the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo is not-to-be-missed.

Day 8: Invergordon

The small, yet modern town is a charming coastal gateway to the beautiful Scottish Highlands and the incredible scenery that forms a stunning backdrop to the romantic castles and historic battlefields featuring in optional excursions along with the ‘Capital of the Highlands’ Inverness.

Day 9: Kirkwall - Orkney Isles

Today you'll arrive at the Royal Burgh of Kirkwall, capital of the Orkneys. This Viking town dates back to the 11th Century and, the awe-inspiring stone circles and ancient monuments at Stenness and Brodgar, are also impressive to see. Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Kirkwall dates back as far as 4,000 BC and is the perfect place to explore a unique history.

Day 10: Lerwick - Shetland Isles

Lerwick, Shetland's Capital, is a bustling, cosmopolitan seaport with services and amenities only usually found in much larger places on the British mainland.

The extensive leisure and entertainment facilities provide warm hospitality to visitors. The old waterfront is thronged with pleasure boats, visiting yachts, historic craft and working fishing boats. There's a variety of lively bars and clubs, ranging from popular "theme" bars to more traditional hostelries.

Day 11: Stornoway - Lewis

Originally a Viking settlement, Stornoway is today the main town on the island of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides. The charming town is situated around a bustling harbour and has a range of local specialist shops selling handcrafted goods from the Outer Hebrides including jewellery and the famous Harris Tweed. The traditional ways of life are still very much in evidence and the beautiful Isle of Lewis is considered the heartland of the Gaelic culture. It is also home to some of the most important prehistoric sites in Scotland including the Neolithic Callanish Stones and Pictish Carloway Broch.

Day 12: Tobermory - Isle of Mull

Established in the late 18th century as a fishing port, Tobermory is one of the prettiest ports in Scotland. This picture-postcard village has a large natural harbour where colourful boats bob on the waves and is watched over by a rainbow of brightly, painted buildings backed by woodland-fringed hills. Tobermory is the capital of the Isle of Mull.

Day 13: Belfast

Samson and Goliath are much-loved landmarks soaring above Belfast’s skyline. The two great, yellow-painted, gantry cranes are a reminder of the shipbuilding industry that put Northern Ireland’s capital firmly on the map. Housed in an iconic, state-of-the-art, 6-storey building, Titanic Belfast relives the city’s golden era and traces the story of the ill-fated liner built in the shipyards of Harland & Wolff. At the heart of today’s cosmopolitan city is Belfast’s elegant City Hall, which stands in Donegal Square.

Day 14: Holyhead

Holyhead is a town in Wales and is a major port serving Ireland, it is well known for the very busy sea port but also comes with a lot of interesting attractions for visitors which include Trefignath Burial Chamber, a maritime museum as well as the town centre which has a number of good places to eat and a theatre for your enjoyment.

Day 15: Cobh for Cork

Lying at the mouth of the River Lee, Cobh has one of the best natural harbours in the world. Known as Queenstown until 1922, it was the departure point for thousands of Irish emigrants to America and the last port of call of the Titanic. The ‘Queenstown Story’ is a wonderful exhibition telling of this rich maritime history. From Cobh’s waterfront, streets lined with brightly coloured houses climb the steep slope of a hill, which is crowned with the imposing St Coleman’s Cathedral. A charming little town, Cobh is a gateway to the city of Cork and excursions to Ireland’s legendary Blarney Castle.

Day 16: Bantry for Ring of Kerry

Bantry ia a lovely small harbour town in West Cork and on the Wild Atlantic Way. Bantry is bursting with history and has beautiful landscapes, flora and fauna.

Day 17: At Sea

Day 18: Portsmouth

Unfortunately your cruise ends here, as we sail into Portsmouth.
