Full Itinerary

Day 1: Barcelona

Barcelona is a vibrant city located along the Mediterranean coast. For years it was overlooked, but since hosting the Summer Olympics in 1992 Barcelona has been growing in popularity and its economy and people are thriving. With this growing popularity come even more options for cruises to Barcelona. The city is perhaps most known for its fascinating architecture, especially the buildings in the Gothic Quarter. Barcelona is based in Catalonia and therefore many of its residents speak Catalan. The Catalan culture is different from most of Spain and this is most evident in the food. Tapas aren’t as popular here, but pork and Serrano ham is almost always on the menu.

Day 2: Valencia

Valencia is a bright, lively region, famous for its two bold fruits – delicious Valencia oranges and their plump tomatoes. The latter of these covers Valencia during the Tomatina festival, which takes place on the last Wednesday in August in Bunol, a town in the Valencia region. If cruising to Valencia during the Tomatina festival, be prepared to duck and cover because the town is painted red by the splatter of thousands of tomatoes being hurled by the festivals participants. This annual event draws thousands of participants the world over, but there’s always something to see in beautiful Valencia, Spain.

Day 3: Ibiza

With its picturesque surroundings and natural beauty, the cruise port of Ibiza, Spain has all the beautiful views from every angle to make it a boisterous party town where beaches are filled to capacity during the day, and dance clubs at night. Right from the harbor, this Balearic Island exudes every ounce of thrill and charm needed for the perfect getaway. From majestically rugged coastlines, scores of stunning cove beaches, dense pine forests and hills covered with olive and fig trees, cruising to Ibiza, Spain would be more than you could ever expect. The most interesting part of the whole experience in this Mediterranean gem is that what you initially see isn’t all you get! There is another side to Ibiza, full of history and art in the old quarters of Dalt Vila. Happy exploring!

Day 4: At Sea

Day 5: Provence (Toulon), France

The distinct Italian accent you'll find here is a remnant of the 2nd century B.C. Romans. Finding the climate and inland of what is now known as Provence so inviting, they stayed and Toulon didn't become part of France until the 15th century.

Day 6: Nice (Villefranche), France

This jewel of the French Riviera is home to some of the world's most luxurious hotels and terraced cafes. Stroll the ultra-famous Promenade des Anglais or see masterpieces by Matisse, Renoir, Monet and Chagall in one of Nice's many museums.

Day 7: Florence/Pisa(La Spezia)Italy

La Spezia, which lies between Genoa and Pisa, and is just minutes to the east of Cinque Terre-the five fishing ports that enjoy National Park status-is home to the Palio del Golfo, an annual boat race that sees the Gulf of Poets; 13 historic villages face off against one another in celebration of the annual Festa del Mare. The town also offers fantastic shopping opportunities, as well as plenty of trattorias to enjoy local, Ligurian cuisine

Day 8: Rome

Civitavecchia was settled in 108 A.D. by the Emperor Trajan and has since served faithfully as a gateway to Rome, the capital of Italy. Once the center of the Ancient World from which emperors ruled over nearly all of western civilization, Rome is still a cultural mecca. Only a few cities in the world can boast such a well-preserved level of architecture, art, and religious iconography. There’s an enormous wealth of culture and history to discover on a cruise to Rome. Visit the ancient halls of the 50,000-seat Colosseum, gaze upon the ceilings of Sistine Chapel in Vatican City, and stroll the Capitoline Museum. Roman culinary prowess is well respected and beloved the world over. Experience authentic pizza, hearty bowls of fresh pasta, excellent cheeses, wines, seafood, and delightful desserts like tiramisu and gelato at family-run trattorias that have been preparing these traditional dishes for centuries. Walk the cobblestoned piazzas making your way to narrow side streets where you’re sure to find craftsman shops and beautiful boutiques filled with gorgeous handmade accessories and homewares for keepsakes and souvenirs.
