Set amid the 60,000 hectares of the Mara Siana Wildlife Conservancy, directly bordering the Masai Mara itself, Mara Bushtops boasts a sensational location. Perched on top of a hill with a scenic valley to one side, the camp lies just 10 minutes drive from the main gate of the Masai Mara National Park and within striking distance of the beautiful Mara River where the famous river crossing of wildebeest and zebra takes place during the migration. When I arrived at Mara Bushtops I was amazed at how attentive the staff were. I was immediately given some refreshments and my luggage was taken to my accommodation. I sat for awhile admiring the breathtaking views from the luxurious reception area. When I was escorted by a "real" Maasai Warrior to my Tent I was overwhelmed by the standard. If it wasn't for the tent sides you really would be forgiven for thinking you had checked into a 5 star hotel. The kingsize bed really was probably one of the most comfortable beds I have slept in. The bathroom had a magnificent rain shower, bidet and two sinks. Well, the décor was out of this world and no-expense had been spared. The decking and sucken hot tub was also a great feature for this property as what an amazing way to end the day relaxing and watching wildlife meandering in the distance whilst the sun goes down.
