Azamara describes itself as an upmarket boutique cruise line and that is the perfect description.Azamara Quest and Journey are both small in comparison to some of the new cruise ships with capacity for under 700 passengers. Being smaller it can visit ports that some larger ships are not able. I liked the smaller ship, it offered all the facilities of a big liner but without the queues .

It has a friendly, intimate atmosphere that created a very relaxed feel. Although everyone dressed up in the evenings there are no formal nights and this helped add to the laid back environment. There are no set sittings for meals, it is possible to dine at any time and choose where you would like to sit. Wine is included with lunch and dinner , speciality coffees and teas are complimentary in the Coffee Shop along with delicious pastries and snacks. The two speciality restaurants provide the very best fine dining experience and may be booked for any time throughout the cruise. Food in the main dining room and the self service restaurant is also superb. Comfortable bars and lounges throughout the ship provide a meeting place for a drink, some with live music, some quiet.

Service on board is exceptional, staff are happy and eager to please whenever possible. Cabins are spacious ,comfortable and have a fridge stocked with soft drinks and water. Luxury toiletries and bath robes are provided for use. Entertainment is high quality but low key, emphasis is on the cruise destinations.
