La Maison de Violette

Overview

La Maison de Violette, Lecci

Corsica

Full of character and only a short drive from Pinarello and San Ciprianu beaches.

Immersed in the Corsican countryside in the small hamlet of Lecci and built of local stone in the style of a bergerie, this charming two bedroom cottage has been lovingly decorated by the owner Violette who has used warm colours and many personal touches to give the house a real home from home feeling. The kitchen-diner with its high ceiling and exposed beams oozes character and opens onto the terrace and swimming pool area, a delightful spot bathed in dappled sunshine from the surrounding mature flowering plants and olive trees that are over a hundred years old.

Stock up on treats and set your own holiday pace with sizzling barbecues and long days of indulgence. Alternatively, visit the Domaine de Torraccia close by, one of Corsica’s finest vineyards, or head for the beach – both Pinarello and San Ciprianu with their stunning sweeps of soft white sand and turquoise waters are only 8km away.

Porto Vecchio is also within easy reach where you’ll find an extensive choice of eateries as well as an attractive harbour and picturesque citadel. And if you’re feeling energetic and looking for the ultimate buzz, you can speak to the owners who live nearby and who run a canyoning company; they offer a choice of day trips along the beautiful rivers and waterfalls of Purcaraccia, Pulischellu and Vaca.

Things to see and do in the area

Domaine de Torraccia

This vineyard is best known for its red, rosé and white wine but also produces marc brandy, olives and olive oil. The owners will share their passion and knowledge with you. You will learn how to taste wine and recognise aromas. Plus get a full explanation of the certain elements which make a good wine… the soil, the climate and the workmanship, and of course there is an opportunity to purchase a bottle of some of their fine wines… or 2!

River Cavu at Taglio Rosso

Take a drive to Taglio Rosso which leads you to the river Cavu. Here you will find some beautiful rock pools, big enough to swim in – a fantastic alternative to the beach.

Bavella

Drive inland to the spectacular Col de Bavella, one of the most dramatic mountain passes in Corsica, with stunning views across the forests and mountains to the ocean beyond. Try on one of the many walks through the forests that lead to the hidden waterfalls of the Piscia di Gallo or Cockerall falls.

Porto Vecchio

The old Genoese walled town of Porto Vecchio seduces every visitor with its picturesque narrow streets and the austerity of its high stone houses that are set within the Citadel's ramparts. Wander the ancient streets and browse the chic boutiques and little shops selling local produce. Stop for a coffee on Place de la République and really take in the hustle and bustle of this charming town.
