Avignon and the Highlights of Provence
Relax and explore one of France’s most beautiful regions on this five-night holiday to Provence. From the papal city of Avignon discover beautiful hillside villages, explore ancient Roman landmarks, and taste some of the worlds best wine. Visit the historic towns or Nimes, Arles, and Orange before returning to the UK by train.

Full Itinerary
Day 1: UK - Avignon
Take the Eurostar to Paris or Lille and change onto a direct TGV to Avignon. Make your way to your hotel for a 5-night stay, then enjoy dinner at one of the city’s many restaurants. (Overnight Avignon)
Day 2: Avignon
Enjoy a relaxing day today and discover your surroundings. Avignon is a beautiful city and a visit to the Palais des Papes and Pont d'Avignon are a must. (Overnight Avignon)
Day 3: Provence Day Trip
Depart Avignon this morning on a small group (8 people max) tour through the beautiful Provence countryside. Spend time in Roussillon and Gordes before visiting the spectacular Pont du Gard and Les Baux de Provence. Make a stop at the amazing Antiques in Saint Rémy de Provence before returning to Avignon for the evening. (Overnight Avignon)
Day 4: Orange and Châteauneuf du Pape
Following breakfast at your hotel travel to Orange and discover one of the best-preserved theatres in the Roman Empire. Get a photo of the magnificent Triumphal Arch before enjoying the scenic drive through the vineyard of Châteauneuf du Pape and a wine-tasting in a winery. Return to Avignon and perhaps enjoy a visit to the Palais des Papes in the afternoon.
Day 5: Nimes and Arles
At a time of your choosing make the short journey to Nimes by train where you can visit 2 of the most treasured Roman monuments in the world - Maison Carrée and the huge double-tiered Amphitheatre of Nimes. Make the 25min journey by train onto Arles, the provincial Roman capital of the area where yet another spectacular Amphitheatre awaits. The Fondation Vincent van Gogh has one of the best collections of Van Gogh's work influenced by the city itself and certainly worth a visit. Stay in Arles for dinner perhaps or make your way back to Avignon via train to enjoy your final night there.
Day 6: End of Tour
Enjoy breakfast before making your way to the station for your journey home.
